PHILIPPINE LADIES CIRCLE ABU DHABI CONDUCTS SYMPOSIUM ON EDUCATION, ASSERTIVENESS, BRANDING AND SOCIAL GRACES

19 August 2016 – The Philippine Ladies Circle (PLC) Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy, held a symposium on “Education, Assertiveness, Branding, and Social Graces” at the Embassy premises on August 12.

“This is one of the events that the Philippine Ladies Circle has lined up for the year.  We have invited resource persons who are considered experts in their own fields. I believe that today’s symposium is of help to many of the Circle’s members. Do what you ingest and keep on storing new ideas,” said Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Constancio R. Vingno Jr. during his welcome remarks.

Ms. Ivory Myka Ramos Galang, Research Analyst at the Philippine Institute of Development Studies and a graduate student with Masters in Public Policy/International Program at the University of Tokyo, emphasized on the importance of education not only for individual development, but also for the country and for globalization when she talked about the education systems of the Philippines and Japan.

Ms. Irene Corpuz, Planning and IT Security Head at the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, Western Region Municipality, pointed out that assertiveness is about strategic communication. She highlighted the importance of communicating and working with people.

Ms. Catherine Ordonez-Rivera, Managing Partner of PentaGlobal HR Solutions and President of the Filipino Human Resources Practitioners’ Association (Fil-HR UAE), encouraged participants to identify and build their own unique personal branding and to project their best. She reminded everyone to be responsible in whatever they post share on social media as it reflects who they are.

Ms. Shane Rosita, Executive Assistant to the General Manager at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, shared tips on projecting one’s self and relating with other people. She advised participants to act naturally, to learn from others, and to always think positive.

Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, Chair of the Philippine Ladies Circle Abu Dhabi, presented Certificates of Appreciation to the guest speakers at the end of the symposium.
