Philippine Ambassador Spouse organizes Forum on Women, Nationalism and Family

PH EMBASSY IN ABU DHABI HOLDS A FORUM ON WOMEN, NATIONALISM AND FAMILY

28 May 2016 – The Philippine Embassy, in partnership with the Philippine Ladies Circle Abu Dhabi, sponsored a forum entitled “Inspiring Filipinas Towards Nationalism, Wellness and Family Cohesion.

Embassy staff and officers attended the forum together with guest teachers from The Philippine School and The Philippine Global School Abu Dhabi. Four guest speakers from different fields of expertise were invited to discuss the topics specifically assigned to them based on their background. 

The first speaker was Teacher Ruby Orellanes Awad, an English teacher at the Philippine Global School, who discussed her way of promoting patriotism and nationalism to her students while using the English language as her medium of teaching. A mother and a recruitment professional, Ms. MJ Uy Lami-in, was the second speaker who inspired the participants after she shared her experiences of how she managed to foster strong family cohesion specially so that she is of a mother of four children with autism living abroadThe Editor-in-chief of the Filipino Times and Managing Director of the New Perspective Media, Ms. Karen Remo, was the third speaker who gave a motivational talk on how to dream and how to be successful. And lastly, DSWD Social Welfare Attaché Isabel Sy Nillas spoke about Women’s Wellness focused on Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood.

The forum was conducted in line with the National Flag Day Celebration which is commemorated every May 28 to June 12, the International Day of Action for Women’s Health which was also celebrated last May 28 and the International Day of Families which happened last May 15, 2016. END

Philippine Embassy holds a Lecture on Arab History and Culture

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi held its quarterly activity on Gender and Development last May 20, 2016 headed by H.E. Ambassador Constancio Vingno Jr. and the was also graced with the presence of Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno. The Managing Director of Ashant Premium Hotel Supplies and Specialized Gifts, Ms. Iman Suguitan, lectured about the Rights and Roles of Women in the Arab World. Ms. Suguitan also discussed about the presence and importance of women during the different eras, both Pre-Islamic and Islamic. The modern-day women in the UAE was also tackled as part of the discussion. As an exampleof a modern Muslim woman, the lecturer sited her own experiences when she started her career in Dubai up to where she is now.

This lecture was basically conducted to give the participants better appreciation of the Muslim culture specially the women practicing the religion. The Embassy staff and personnel were provided points on how to handle issues specially those concerning women. The lecture was very interactive as the participants were very eager to ask questions which may be personal and for others official. POLO sited questions on how to improve the Pre-departure seminar to tailor-fit the orientation for migrating Filipinos based in the Middle-East. DSWD posted questions regarding annulment and family matters. The Embassy staff asked questions on how to manage concerns when Arab employers are present. 

The discussion lasted for more than 2 hours and ended with a short gathering to acknowledge the birthday celebrators for April and May.

Philippine Ambassador Spouse promotes AR Anna Rubio bags in UAE

AR ANNA RUBIO CREATION BRINGS PRIDE TO THE FILIPINOS IN THE UAE

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE celebrated the anniversary of the Philippine Independence at the Dar El Istiqbal Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Intercontinental Abu Dhabi. The event was also a venue for various Filipino artists to showcase their wonderful works and creations.

Anna Dominique Rubio, a celebrity bag designer based in Manila, had her creations transported from the Philippines to Abu Dhabi to take part in the exhibit. Her elegant collection was one of the highlights of the exhibit. Foreign guests who were present during the Independence Day celebration showed great appreciation and interest on the clutch bags presented.

The unique handmade designer bags are 100% Filipino products. The raw materials such as shells, rattan, native woven fibers and pearls used all came from the Philippines. Anna Rubio’s custom-made bags are patronized by Filipino actresses like Liza Soberano, Julia Montes, Jodi Sta. Maria and Vina Morales to name a few.     

The AR bags will be exhibited at the Millennium Hotel Corniche Abu Dhabi from June 5 to 11 together with the paintings and photos crafted by Filipino artists based in the UAE. The exhibit is one of the projects of the Philippine Ladies Circle Abu Dhabi, headed by Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, which aims to promote the Filipino tourism, food, culture and craftsmanship.

05 June 2016 – “Expressions,” an art exhibit sponsored by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi in coordination with the Philippine Ladies Circle officially opened at the Millennium Corniche Hotel.

Ambassador Vingno welcomed the invited guests and the diplomatic corps who were present during the event. The exhibit showcased the creations of six equally-talented Filipino artists, both based in the Philippines and in the UAE. Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, chairman of the Philippine Ladies Circle Abu Dhabi, proudly introduced to the public the artists who participated in the event. 

Paintings of Dee DiponEsmi Pangilinan, Rico Tompong and Susan Villanueva were displayed at the venue together with the photo exhibit of Xyza Bacani. The celebrity bag designer’s, Anna Rubio, handmade bags were also opened to the public. 

Expressions Art Exhibit ran from June 5 to June 11, 2016 at the mezzanine floor of the hotel headed by Mr. Nemo Acimovic, the general manager of Millennium Corniche Hotel.

The Philippine Ladies Circle aims to promote the culture and tradition of Philippines by taking pride in the Filipino ingenuity and creativity.
